about the history of the Samarkand Regional Music and Drama Theater
The Samarkand theater began its creative activity on January 15, 1914 with the drama "Padarkush" by Mahmudhoja Behbudy.
Initially, the theater was called the Samarkand Muslim troupe. In 1914-1918 it was called “Samarkand Musical-Drama and Literary Community”.
On February 24, 1922, he began working in the city department of education on behalf of the Samarkand Uzbek Troupe.

In 1944, the theater was named after the poet Hamid Olimjon, a singer of happiness and joy, and turned into the Uzbek State Drama Theater. This year the first musical performance of the "Tohir and Zuhra" theater was shown.
In the years after World War II, a great creative life began in the theater. The works "Boy ila xizmatchi", "Xolisxon", "qutlug 'qon", "Alisher Navoiy", "Sepsiz qiz", "Momaqaldiroq" and "Revizor" are of particular importance.
The last reorganization took place on August 18, 1964, and the theater moved to the dramatic genre, and its current building was erected.
The theater was transformed into the Samarkand State Theater of Drama and Music named after Khamid Alimzhan in 1992.
In 2016, the theater was transformed into the Samarkand Regional Music and Drama Theater.
The Samarkand theater has a 100-year history and is a creative team of art historians and experts who have staged their historical, national and modern classical works of different genres and genres.
